Our Story — The Tradition
Behind Sri Iniya Silks

Sri Iniya Silks is more than a saree store. It is a story woven through generations of handloom tradition, hard work, family, and a deep love for authentic silk sarees.

Our Roots

Our roots go back to Vagarayam Palayam, a traditional weaving village near Karumathampatti in Coimbatore district.

For generations, handloom weaving has been a way of life for our family. My grandfather, my father and my uncles have all dedicated their lives to the art of weaving.

In our village, many families are traditionally involved in handloom weaving, creating pure silk sarees, bridal sarees and silk cotton sarees that carry the skill and character of generations of weavers.

A Mother’s Support, in Every Step

My mother has been the strength behind every saree, supporting every stage of the process.

Dedication in Every Thread

My father has always been one of my greatest inspirations.

He spent his life weaving pure soft silk, silk cotton and Kora sarees, working with patience, precision and unwavering dedication.

With the modest income earned from weaving, he supported our family and made sure that his children received a good education.

His life taught us that every saree is more than just a piece of fabric — it carries the hard work, time and dreams of the people who create it.

My Mother’s Support

My mother has also been an important part of this journey, supporting the family through the many stages involved in saree making and standing alongside the weaving tradition that shaped our lives.

Sirumugai – A Renowned Weaving Tradition

Sirumugai, near Mettupalayam in Coimbatore district, is one of Tamil Nadu’s important and respected handloom and silk-weaving centres.

Sarees woven in this region are known for their rich tradition and skilled craftsmanship, finding their way to customers across India and around the world.

Growing up surrounded by this tradition gave us a natural connection to the world of sarees.

We began our journey by manufacturing pure soft silk sarees, carrying forward the knowledge and craftsmanship passed down through our family.

From Loom to Our Store

After marriage, when we moved to Udumalpet around five years ago, we noticed something close to our hearts.

Customers looking for genuine pure silk and bridal sarees often had to travel to Coimbatore, Sirumugai, Kanchipuram or other distant places to find the sarees they truly wanted.

That inspired us to bring our family’s experience and our passion for authentic sarees closer to home.

And that is how Sri Iniya Silks began.

A Traditional Shopping Experience

At Sri Iniya Silks, we wanted to create a shopping experience that feels connected to the traditional way of choosing a saree.

Our customers can sit comfortably, touch the sarees, feel the fabric and personally experience the richness of the weave before making their choice.

We believe a saree should not simply be seen. It should be felt, understood and appreciated.
